Acceptable Use Policy
Effective date: May 30, 2026
This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) describes what you may and may not do when using Setr. It is part of, and incorporated into, our Terms of Service. We may update it as laws, carrier rules, and our Services evolve. If you violate this AUP, we may suspend or terminate your access.
1. You are responsible for your use
You are responsible for all activity conducted through your account and for ensuring that everyone you authorize follows this AUP. Because Setr operates on a bring-your-own-Twilio model, you are the sender of your messages and calls and must comply with all applicable laws, carrier requirements, and the CTIA Messaging Principles and Best Practices.
2. Consent and opt-out
You must:
- obtain valid, documented consent before contacting anyone, and use only contact information you have the right to use — never purchased, rented, harvested, or scraped lists;
- clearly identify yourself, your business, and the purpose of your messages, and set accurate expectations about message frequency;
- provide and honor opt-out mechanisms, process STOP and other revocation requests promptly, and never re-engage a contact who has opted out or is on an applicable do-not-contact or suppression list; and
- respect quiet hours and applicable Do-Not-Call and time-of-day restrictions.
3. Prohibited message content
You may not use the Services to send, facilitate, or promote any content prohibited by carriers or law, including the “SHAFT” categories and related restrictions:
- Sex — pornographic or sexually explicit content;
- Hate — hateful, harassing, or discriminatory content;
- Alcohol — content promoting alcohol without lawful age-gating;
- Firearms — content promoting firearms, ammunition, or related products in violation of carrier or legal restrictions;
- Tobacco — tobacco, vaping, or related products;
- cannabis, CBD, and controlled or illegal substances;
- illegal or high-risk financial schemes, “get rich quick” offers, payday or short-term high-interest loans, gambling where prohibited, and deceptive or predatory lending;
- phishing, fraud, scams, deceptive marketing, malware, or links to any of the above; and
- any content that is unlawful, defamatory, threatening, or that infringes another’s intellectual-property or privacy rights.
4. Prohibited messaging practices
- sending unsolicited bulk or “spam” messages, or messages without the required consent;
- “snowshoeing” or otherwise spreading traffic across numbers to evade filtering, throughput limits, or carrier rules;
- using shared, public, or misrepresented sender identities, or spoofing phone numbers or sender IDs;
- attempting to bypass spam filters, opt-out handling, or A2P 10DLC registration requirements; or
- using the Services in any way that risks harm to the messaging ecosystem or to carriers’ networks.
5. Prohibited platform conduct
- violating any law or regulation, or infringing or misappropriating any third party’s rights;
- uploading malware or attempting to gain unauthorized access to, probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Services or related systems;
- interfering with or disrupting the integrity or performance of the Services, including through denial-of-service activity or excessive automated requests;
- reverse engineering, decompiling, or circumventing technical or usage limits of the Services, except to the extent permitted by law; or
- using the Services to build a competing product, or reselling access without our written authorization.
6. Enforcement
We may investigate suspected violations and may remove content, throttle or suspend functionality, or suspend or terminate accounts that violate this AUP or that create legal or operational risk, with or without notice. We may also report unlawful activity to the appropriate authorities and cooperate with carriers and providers as required.
7. Reporting abuse
To report a suspected violation of this AUP, email Setr LLC at hello@setrpro.io.
